ExxonMobil and Rosneft announced on August 30, 2011 that they had reached a deal to set up a joint venture (JV) to explore for hydrocarbons in East Prinovozemelskiy (EPNZ) blocks 1, 2 and 3 in Russia’s South Kara Sea.
